How to convert ASS to SRT
A practical guide to working with subtitles in your browser.
Subtitle files store text and the exact time at which it should appear. Napisy performs operations in the browser, so the video and subtitle text do not need to be uploaded.
A safe workflow
- Keep a copy of the source file.
- Review the detected format and encoding.
- Run the operation and inspect its warnings.
- Open the result again and verify cues near the beginning, middle and end.
Common problems
Common issues include incorrect character encoding, a timing offset, an FPS mismatch, overlapping cues and style loss during conversion. Advanced ASS effects and TTML regions do not have direct SRT equivalents.
Privacy
The service does not upload subtitle text or local video files to its server. A project is stored in IndexedDB only after the user explicitly chooses local saving.
